The Houston Dash will honor current and former military and first responders this Saturday at BBVA Compass Stadium during the Lifetime NWSL Game of the Week against Seattle Reign FC. This will be Houston’s fourth consecutive nationally televised match and the Dash look to even the season series with Seattle after dropping their first meeting earlier this season.
Houston will look to bounce back after dropping a close game with Sky Blue FC at Yurcak Field in New Jersey last weekend. Dash midfielder Andressinha scored her first goal of the season after she capitalized on a rebound after her initial shot ricocheted off the post minutes before the end of the first half. Rachel Daly made her first start in the backline last Saturday and joined defender Cami Privett, who made her first start of the season, replacing Bruna Benites who was sideline with a MCL sprain in her left knee.
Seattle enters Week 7 in fourth place with a 2-1-3 record and boasts one of the most productive front lines in the league with forwards Megan Rapinoe, Nahomi Kawasumi and Beverly Yanez combining for eight goals and five assists through six games. Yanez scored the only goal in Seattle’s 1-1 draw with Orlando on Sunday, extending their unbeaten run at Memorial Stadium to 10 matches. Seattle has yet to win on the road and will be looking for their first points away from Memorial Stadium since their 2-2 draw at Providence Park against Portland Thorns FC earlier this month.
Seattle won the first meeting between both teams 5-1 on April 22 at Memorial Stadium, giving Houston their first loss of the season. Poliana scored her first goal of the season, avoiding the first shutout of the year. Houston lost the season series against Seattle last year dropping both contests to the outfit from the Pacific Northwest.
