With only five days before the start of the 2013 season, the Dynamo have formally unveiled the jerseys the team will wear for their upcoming campaign. Starting Tuesday, the jerseys will be available for purchase at the adidas Dynamo Team Store at BBVA Compass Stadium.
“Introducing a new uniform is always exciting for a team and its fans,” said Dynamo president Chris Canetti. “We are proud of the new look and how it represents the club. The base concept remains the same, but the new version provides a fresh, new look for the club.”

Although the jerseys were designed to highlight features that represent the club, it was also designed with competition advantages in mind. With no collar and lighter material, the 2013 and 2014 kits will provide an advantage for Dynamo players as they play games during the summer months in Houston.
Along with the Dynamo’s goal to be the most environmentally friendly club in Major League Soccer, the new kits are made from 100% recyclable materials. Other features that will hit home to Dynamo fans are:
- The Texas flag patch sewn on to the front of the jersey
- The Dynamo’s signature Forever Orange slogan on the upper-left hand side of the kit
- The back-neck tape design is inspired by the design of the Dynamo’s stadium, BBVA Compass Stadium
“We wanted to maintain a traditional looking uniform that met the standards of top clubs from around the world,” Canetti added. “We also wanted it to be a stark contrast to our previous uniform. It was important for us to incorporate elements that represent our club and fan base, such as the Forever Orange tag and the Texas flag. Overall, I think we have met our objectives and have a quality new uniform that players and fans will enjoy.”
As the Dynamo closed out their preseason campaign on Saturday, CCL foe Santos Laguna continued their trek through the 2013 LigaMX Clausura.
On Friday, Santos upset second-place Club America at Estadio Corona, defeating the Mexico City-based club 1-0 behind a first-half goal from Darwin Quintero. The goal was Quintero's second of the season and his second in as many games.
Friday's match was a chippy affair between the two Mexican clubs, as seven yellow cards were handed out. Former Mexican national team goalkeeper Oswaldo Sanchez made three saves for his fourth clean sheet of the season.
Current men's national team striker Herculez Gomez played 62 minutes for Los Guerreros, while current Mexican national team striker Oribe Peralta played the full 90 minutes and assisted on Quintero's goal.
Following the win, Santos now sits in sixth place in the LigaMX standings. Here is a list of their upcoming fixtures:

A huge thank you to the Vancouver Whitecaps who were able to cut a highlight package from yesterday's match at the Carolina Challenge Cup. Will Bruin and Adam Moffat scored second-half goals to lead the Dynamo to a 2-1 victory over the Whitecaps.
Wednesday afternoon, the Dynamo announced the acquisition of English midfielder Andrew Driver on loan from Scottish club Heart of Midlothian. The versatile midfielder appeared in more than 150 games for Heart and was part of the club that won the 2012 Scottish FA Cup.
In his first interview as a member of the Dynamo, Drive spoke with Glenn Davis during Wednesday night's edition of Soccer Matters on ESPN 97.5 FM.
Following tonight's results in Charleston, the Dynamo are now tied for second place in the Carolina Challenge Cup. Houston defeated Vancouver 2-1 behind second half goals from Will Bruin and Adam Moffat and the Chicago Fire defeated the Charleston Battery 2-1 behind a stoppage-time goal from Alex.
The Dynamo still have an outside chance of winning the preseason tournament, but they will need help from the Whitecaps in Saturday's finales. Here are the updated standings.
| Current Standings | ||||
| Team | Games Played | Points | GF | GA |
| Chicago Fire | 2 | 6 | 5 | 3 |
| Houston Dynamo | 2 | 3 | 4 | 4 |
| Vancouver Whitecaps | 2 | 3 | 4 | 4 |
| Charleston Battery | 2 | 0 | 3 | 5 |
The Dynamo will conclude the Challenge Cup Saturday at 6:15 p.m. CT against USL Pro club Charleston Battery. Prior to that match, the Whitecaps and Fire will square off in their Charleston finale. For the Dynamo to win the tournament for the third time, they will need to defeat the Battery, the Whitecaps need to defeat the Fire and the Dynamo need to finish with a better goal differential than both Chicago and Vancouver.
All matches will be streamed on USLnation.com.
