Brian Ching Testimonial Match
In the first part of our interview series with Brian Ching, Brian chats with Sebastian Salazar about his early years of soccer in Hawaii, his relationship with his mother and his move to Gonzaga.
We're only a month away from the Brian Ching Testimonial Match, presented by BBVA Compass, and the impressive list of participating players is growing.
First, current teammates (and coaches): Brad Davis, Bobby Boswell, Ricardo Clark, Tally Hall, Corey Ashe, Mike Chabala, Calen Carr, Tyler Deric and current assistant coaches Wade Barrett and Steve Ralston.
Then you've got some members from past Dynamo squads, especially the original 2006-07 MLS Cup-winning sides: Dwayne de Rosario, Chris Wondolowski, Eddie Robinson, Craig Waibel, Pat Onstad, Brian Mullan, Paul Dalglish, Kelly Gray, Ryan Cochrane and former assistant coach John Spencer.
Finally, there's the others. Teammates from San Jose, the U.S. national team and friends from around the league: Landon Donovan, Jimmy Conrad, Carlos Bocanegra, Charlie Davies, Frankie Hejduk, Davy Arnaud, Danny O'Rourke and Matt Reis*.
Not a bad collection of soccer talent, and they'll all be at BBVA Compass Stadium on Dec. 13 to pay homage to Ching as he laces up his cleats one last time. Tickets are on sale now, proceeds from the event will benefit The House That Ching Built.
*Matt Reis recently underwent surgery to repair a left quadriceps tendon, and will not be able to take part in the match itself
Houston Dynamo fans honor retiring forward Brian Ching during his final regular season home match with a card stunt during the 25th minute of the Dynamo's match vs. the New York Red Bulls on Oct. 20, 2013.
