It was a standout performance for Dynamo forward Brian Ownby, as he led the Richmond Kickers to a shutout 4-0 victory over Antigua Barracuda FC on Friday, June 14. Ownby helped the Kickers remain undefeated in USL Pro play with two goals of his own.
With the Kickers already up 1-0, Ownby put the game further out of Antigua's reach in the 56th minute of the match, capitalizing on a deflected ball from an opposing defender (3:25 in the video below). His second goal of the night came about in the 77th minute of the match (4:00 in the video below), giving Richmond a three goal lead. Ownby found the ball because of his fortunate placement and good timing, having only the goalkeeper standing in his way.
The goals were Ownby's second and third of 2013 for Richmond to go alongside four assists on the year.
Richmond's next match is this Saturday, June 22 at 6 p.m. CT against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Reserves.
The Houston Dynamo showed their support for the fallen firefighters of stations 51 and 68 last week by visiting both stations. The team participated in drills, talked with the firefighters and offered them tickets to the Dynamo's upcoming home game this Saturday, June 22 vs. Toronto FC.
The game is dedicated to the firefighters who lost their lives in the May 31 fire. Fans can show their support by purchasing a special ticket package, with proceeds benefitting the 100 Club Survivors Fund.
Redditors, prepare yourselves. Eddie Robinson is coming to r/MLS for his first-ever AMA on Monday, June 17 at 12:30 p.m. Plan your lunch break accordingly, and get your questions ready for Eddie.
Check out the announcement post here.
If you're unfamiliar with the concept, an AMA (short for "ask me anything") is a chance for you to, well, ask Eddie Robinson anything. About his playing days, his current job as a coach and broadcaster, how many gallons of coffee he drinks in week, etc.
You'll have to create a Reddit account if you want to participate in the AMA, otherwise you'll just be a "lurker" in the common parlance. Don't lurk. Be active.
UPDATE: Thanks to everyone who participated, you can scroll through Eddie's AMA here.
