The Houston Dynamo are excited to provide opportunities to players outside of the Houston area. The Gonzales Soccer Club in Gonzales, LA, will be the first club in Louisiana to host a Houston Dynamo camp on February 22 and 23 2014.
The weekend camp is for boys and girls of all ability levels from age’s five to twelve. The camp will help to develop skills, connect players to Dynamo and grow the game of soccer. The camp curriculum will be based on age-appropriate training guidelines and will promote ball mastery and familiarity with the “Dynamo Way” through small-sided games and other challenging formats.
When speaking about the camp, Senior Staff Coach Josh Saboe said, “We're very excited to expand our reach outside of the immediate Houston area. Regardless of their location, every kid should have the chance to connect with an MLS team. This is a great step forward in providing that opportunity to these players.”
Each camp registration includes a Houston Dynamo training top, a Houston Dynamo soccer ball, and a companion ticket to a Houston Dynamo soccer game. The Houston Dynamo will also be providing Gonzales S.C. coaches a Friday night clinic to come and observe a Houston Dynamo training session.
The camp registration costs $175/player and is open until February 21. To register for the camp, visit houstondynamo.sportssignup.com.

The Houston Dynamo Youth Programs have partnered with the Eclipse Soccer Club in Sugar Land to provide the Club with training and coaching support through its Club Support Program for the fall 2013 and spring 2014 soccer seasons. This system offers organization programs that range from training for recreation, competitive and premier players to specialty clinics, team training sessions and coach education programs for volunteer and experienced coaches within the partner organization.
“Eclipse Soccer Club has been delighted with the collaboration with Houston Dynamo in bringing quality trainers to our program and working seamlessly with the Eclipse staff," said Eclipse S.C. Academy Director Eddie Edwards. "Eclipse is dedicated to providing the best possible training environment to our members to ensure that our players receive the very best instruction, and this program certainly meets that expectation.”
Edwards added, “As a club, we feel a responsibility to develop players to reach their highest potential and then encourage those players looking for the ultimate challenge to pursue the Dynamo experience. Eclipse Soccer Club will continue to work tirelessly to do what is best for each individual player and will support and encourage the movement of players towards Houston's professional club.”
Adrian Moses, Houston Dynamo Director of Soccer Programs, noted, “Eclipse is a traditional and historic Club in Houston soccer and it is a pleasure for us and our staff to work with a professional youth soccer organization that is so clearly focused on providing their players, staff and families with quality environments and opportunities. We are very happy with this partnership and are looking forward to a great future with Eclipse.”
The Houston Dynamo Youth Program aims to connect with the Houston soccer community, to offer development opportunities for players and coaches, and to grow the game and the community’s connection to the Dynamo organization. The training program works with clubs to provide professional support to the Club and coaches at all levels. The symbiotic relationship between the organizations not only focuses on player development, but also provides players and coaches various resources and avenues to develop their skills and abilities.

When BBVA Compass Stadium opened on May 12, 2012, the city of Houston new that great things would be in store for the downtown gem. Eight months later, the city was treated to an undefeated Dynamo campaign, a World Cup qualifier for Mexico's El Tri and a stop by the Olympic gold-medal winning U.S. women's national team.
With today's announcement that BBVA Compass Stadium will host a U.S. men's national team match in January, Houstonians are in store for one more treat.
"I think it's great that we are going to have the U.S. men's national team make its debut at BBVA Compass Stadium" Dynamo president Chris Canetti said. "BBVA Compass Stadium is a beautiful stadium in one of the best soccer markets in the country."
The USMNT is 1-0-2 all-time in Houston. The squad was last here in 2011 when they defeated Panama 1-0 in the semifinals of the Gold Cup at Reliant Stadium. With the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying Hexagonal schedule announced last month, fans will wonder if BBVA Compass Stadium will be on the list of venues selected by US Soccer as a potential host city.
"Hopefully, this match is the start of a long relationship between the city of Houston, BBVA Compass Stadium and US Soccer in making it a frequent home for U.S. national team matches," added Canetti.
There is no timetable for when the squad for the January camp and friendly will be announced. Historically, the January camp has been very MLS heavy with some players mixed in who play in Scandinavia.
Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, Dec. 21, at 10 a.m. CT through ussoccer.com, by calling 1-888-929-7849, and at the BBVA Compass Stadium ticket office (open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.). Groups of 20 or more can obtain an order form at ussoccer.com or call 312-528-1290.
