The national teams of Guyana and Mexico will face off in a World Cup qualifying match at BBVA Compass Stadium on Friday, October 12. The match, which is the third international soccer event to take place this year at the downtown stadium, is scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. with Guyana as the home team.

On Tuesday, CONCACAF announced the eight groups of three teams that will compete in the 2012-13 CONCACAF Champions League tournament (formerly the CONCACAF Champions Cup). In the past month, the United States Soccer Federation and CONCACAF announced changes to the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and CONCACAF Champions League competition formats. The Houston Dynamo will take part in both tournaments this year, with USOC set to kick off May 15 and CCL set to begin late July.
