Dynamo happy about tough win
Games between teams from the United States and Mexico always seem
to end up with some extracurricular activity, and Wednesday night’s match
between Houston and Puebla, which the Dynamo won 1-0, was no different.

HIGHLIGHTS
Dynamo beat Puebla 1-0 in heated match
Despite a sluggish first half on Wednesday night, Houston held off Puebla in an entertaining battle, both literally and figuratively, to win 1-0 and claim the top spot in SuperLiga Group A. Dynamo forward Dominic Oduro scored the game’s lone goal in the 64th minute.
Anthony Obodai got his first start for Houston since officially being signed by the team and provided a calming influence to the Houston midfield as well as some defensive bite. But with both teams mixing and matching starters, the first half was not very fluid.

Houston has to wait to clinch semifinals
For 90 minutes on Sunday night, Houston thoroughly outplayed Chivas
USA. However, poor finishing and poor marking on a second-half set piece cost
the Dynamo an early pass to the second round of SuperLiga, as they tied the Goats
1-1.

HIGHLIGHTS
Dynamo allow late equalizer in 1-1 tie
The Houston Dynamo and Chivas USA battled to a 1-1 draw on Sunday
night, as Lovel Palmer’s early goal was ultimately canceled out by a
Jesus Padilla header off a set piece in the second half.
Houston came out of the locker room with purpose to start the game.
In the very first minute, a Cam Weaver dummy resulted in Dominic Oduro running in on goal. Chivas USA goalkeeper Dan Kennedy, though, was quick
off his line and made a great save to keep the match scoreless.
Dynamo 1, Chivas USA 1 - postgame notes
The
Houston Dynamo dominated Sunday’s SuperLiga match against MLS rival Chivas USA
but were held to a 1-1 tie when Jesus Padilla headed in a corner kick in the 71st
minute to tie the match, cancelling an early goal from Lovel Palmer and
Houston’s 16-6 shot advantage.
The
Dynamo are now 1-0-1 in SuperLiga Group A play, leading the group prior to
Sunday’s second game between Pachuca and Puebla. Houston faces Puebla on
Wednesday night, and will likely need a win or a tie to advance to the
semifinals for the third time in three SuperLiga appearances.
