MONTREAL – Alessandro Nesta made his debut with the Montreal Impact on Thursday. Sort of.
The Italian center back took part in an 11-v-11 scrimmage on Thursday morning at Montreal’s Centre Claude-Robillard against the Impact's Academy side. The Academy had accepted on Wednesday its parent club’s invitation for a friendly intended to provide Nesta, as well as convalescing center back Nelson Rivas, with an opportunity to train in a game situation on a full field.
When the Dynamo entered their stretch of three home games in seven days, a reasonable expectation would have been to come away with seven points and inch slowly up the Eastern Conference standings. With two of three matches coming against the top two teams in the conference, and the third coming against a team that gave the Dynamo their most recent loss, three wins in three games would have been a pipe dream for most outsiders. But that wasn't the case for the men on the inside.
Thanks to a first-half stoppage-time red card to Sporting Kansas City midfielder Peterson Joseph, the Houston Dynamo took a man advantage for the second time in as many games. But that’s about where the similarities end between Wednesday night's match vs. Sporting KC and last weekend's clash with D.C. United.
NEW YORK – adidas and Major League Soccer today announced that MLS will integrate the adidas micoach Elite System league-wide in 2013, marking the world’s first “smart league.” The announcement comes ahead of the 2012 AT&T MLS All-Star Game, which is set to be the world’s first “smart game” integrating the micoach Elite System.
It didn't take long for Calen Carr to reacquaint himself to the Houston Dynamo starting XI.
The versatile Carr was the star of the night on Wednesday, notching his first career MLS brace and, in the process, sending the crowd of 19,761 home happy with a big 2-1 win against the East’s top team in Sporting Kansas City. It was a big night for a player a week removed from a month-long hamstring injury and who featured for the first time since June 16.
Calen Carr made a splash in his return to the Houston starting XI on Wednesday night, notching the first brace of his career to push the Dynamo past first-place Sporting Kansas City 2-1 at BBVA Compass Stadium.
In his first start since June 16, the right winger was the ultimate opportunist finding the right end of service from Will Bruin and Brad Davis, players who have served as goal scorers for the Dynamo in recent weeks.
Calen Carr gets the Dynamo on the board in the 25th minute
The deal to transfer the Houston Dynamo's Geoff Cameron to Premier League side Stoke City has been agreed to in principle, according to Dynamo president Chris Canetti.
