Red Bulls sign French star Thierry Henry
The New York Red Bulls made it official on Wednesday: French superstar Thierry Henry is now on the books.
Rumors and teasers from the club long indicated that the former Barcelona and Arsenal attacker would join New York, but the official announcement came only today.
Dynamo drop Landín; Spencer departs
Mexican striker Luis Landín battled injuries and never quite fit in during his 11 months with the Dynamo.
The Houston Dynamo made a series of eyebrow-raising transactions on Tuesday night, announcing the club has released Luis Landin, officially signed Anthony Obodai, and parted ways with assistant coach John Spencer.
Dynamo announce multiple transactions
The Houston Dynamo signed midfielder Anthony Obodai on
Tuesday, pending arrival of his International Transfer Certificate from the Netherlands.
Obodai could be available to play in Thursday night’s SuperLiga opener against Pachuca. He will occupy
an international roster slot. Per team and league policy, terms of the contract
were not released.

spot. Over the last four years, we have comfortably sat in playoff position at
the midway point and beyond.
Dynamo turn a corner in tie vs. Crew

After three successive league draws, including two at home, one would
think the Houston Dynamo would be more upset that they are winless in their
last six league games. However, Houston players firmly
believe they are finally turning a corner with their play and that they stand on the brink of
putting a good run together.
“I think we’re just inches away from
pulling off something good here,” said Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear. “We are inching along, and we need to take
some big steps now, but I do think we are on the verge of starting to do that.”
Defense rules the day as Dynamo tie 0-0
The Columbus Crew maintained their lead atop the Eastern Conference and extended the Houston Dynamo’s winless streak to six league games as both teams played to a defensive stalemate that ended scoreless at Robertson Stadium on Saturday night.

The
Houston Dynamo earned a hard-fought tie by shutting out the two-time defending
regular season champion Columbus Crew Saturday night at Robertson Stadium,
finishing in a 0-0 draw. It was the Dynamo’s third consecutive tie in MLS play
since the break for the group stage of the World Cup.
The
Dynamo will now break from MLS play for two weeks to compete in SuperLiga,
hosting games at Robertson Stadium on July 15, 18, and 21 against Pachuca,
Chivas USA, and Puebla respectively. Houston’s next league game is also against
Columbus, in Ohio on Saturday, July 24.

Midfielder Obodai returns for second trial
Ghanaian midfielder Anthony Obodai returned to practice with the Houston Dynamo on Thursday for the first time since his two-week trial ended on June 19.
“Obviously we’re having another look at him,” Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear said. “He impressed when he was here, and we will see him again. We will see where it goes from here.”
