The Houston Dynamo traveled to Red Bull Arena carrying a five-game winning streak and an eight-game unbeaten streak. After 90 minutes, neither streak remained intact as the Red Bulls defeated the men in orange 2-0. It was the first defeat for Houston since a 4-2 loss to the Montreal Impact on July 23. It was also the first time the Dynamo allowed more than one goal in a match since the Montreal loss. Along with the Dynamos' run up the Eastern Conference standings, Houston also made a strong push in the weekly power rankings, coming in at No. 2 ahead of the showdown in Harrison.

Momentum is fickle.

A team can be on a fantastic run during which they look invincible and then a result breaks their stride and pushes everything back to square one. After last Friday’s frustrating 2-0 loss to the New York Red Bulls ended Houston's eight-game unbeaten streak, the Dynamo were adamant that nothing has changed. Despite the loss, they feel the same way about their chances as they did before the match.

For the first time since June 30, the Houston Dynamo conceded a goal in the run of play. Markus Holgersson’s goal turned out to be a costly one that the Dynamo were never able to rebound from, eventually losing 2-0 at Red Bull Arena on Friday night.

What goes up, regardless of how long it stays there, must come down.

For the Houston Dynamo, Friday was the night that their eight-game unbeaten streak would do just that. Naturally, Houston’s unbeaten streak was not going to last forever, but the nature of their 2-0 loss to the New York Red Bulls left the Dynamo wanting more.

HARRISON, N.J. – The New York Red Bulls didn't have to wait long to get the bitter taste from last week's defeat to the Houston Dynamo out of their mouths.

In Friday's rematch at Red Bull Arena, Markus Holgersson and Jan Gunnar Solli tallied in the second half to send the Red Bulls to a 2-0 win over Houston, a reverse of the scoreline last Friday at BBVA Compass Stadium.

Holgersson scored the winner just after the hour mark Solli came off the bench to put away an insurance goal in stoppage time after a feed from Thierry Henry.

After the Dynamo wiped the floor with them last week, the New York Red Bulls were clear that they were eager to return the favor in this week’s return match at Red Bull Arena, where the Red Bulls are unbeaten this season.

In many ways, the Dynamo — also undefeated at home this year and winners of five straight — know what to expect on Friday night (7 p.m. CT, NBC Sports Network).
