Geoff Cameron was not the only one patiently anticipating news regarding his UK work permit.

The decision of an appeals board on Wednesday to grant the US international a work permit was the final step in Cameron's transfer from the Houston Dynamo to Stoke City, allowing the Eastern Conference leaders to move on following two months of negotiations.

For the second consecutive week, Dynamo midfielder Brad Davis has been named to the MLS Team of the Week. His performance in Week 22 helped Houston defeat the New York Red Bulls 2-0 and leapfrog them into first place in the Eastern Conference.

Davis completed a game-high 69 passes against New York, and provided the service on the 2nd-minute free kick that led to the Dynamo's first goal.

Dominic Kinnear’s decision to switch to the 4-3-3 has paid instant dividends, with the club unbeaten in the eight games so far in the new formation. Perhaps the biggest individual beneficiaries have been outside wingers Calen Carr and Macoumba Kandji.

Often the best work is a product of passion. When it comes to Brad’s Brigade, it is just that and more for Brad Davis.

Brad's Brigade is the organization Davis founded in 2006 to help area military veterans, and the reason he has been named  for MLS W.O.R.K.S. Humanitarian of the Month for August.

Houston Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear does not often single out individual performances, but after Friday night’s 2-0 win over the New York Red Bulls, the Dynamo boss did just that in regard to defender Corey Ashe, showing support for the speedy left back who looks to be rounding into form.

The opponents keep going down, and the Dynamo keep going up in the Power Rankings. The New York Red Bulls were the latest victims after the 2-0 dismantling at BBVA Compass Stadium on Friday night, with goals from Jermaine Taylor and the red-hot Calen Carr. They'll get another crack at it this Friday at Red Bull Arena, but for now it's a five-game winning streak and eight games unbeaten for the Dynamo as they sit even with Sporting Kansas City at the top of the Eastern Conference with 40 points.

After moving into first place with a decisive 2-0 win over the New York Red Bulls, it is understandable if the Houston Dynamo stop and smell the roses a bit.

However, they don’t have time to rest on their laurels. The return match of this midseason home-and-home series looms this Friday, when Houston will travel to Red Bull Arena to face the same hungry, now second-place NYRB.

For the first time since 2009, Ricardo Clark took part in Houston Dynamo training. And while some things have changed, there is a feeling that his familiarity with the club could make the transition back into MLS a seamless one for the former All-Star and two-time MLS Cup winner.

Both the Dynamo and Clark, who has yet to be added to the roster due to salary cap issues expected to be resolved Wednesday when Geoff Cameron’s British work permit is decided, hope the move has an impact similar to Houston’s most recent signings.
