MLS Regular Season
Dynamo Notes: Team prepares for Colorado
Though most of the team is healthy, Cameron expects to be back on the pitch in August.
With a couple of exhibitions behind them, the Houston Dynamo have returned to preparing for MLS play, with their Saturday match against the Colorado Rapids fast approaching.
Trialists Depart
Anthony Obodai, Juan Manuel Quevedo, and Kendall Waston completed their trials with the Dynamo, and all three were not with the team for training on Monday. Head coach Dominic Kinnear was intentionally non-committal regarding the three trialists, but he seemed to indicate that Houston may try to sign one of them.
Cameron's return to form begins
For the first time in two months, Dynamo midfielder Geoff Cameron
laced up his boots Monday and took to the field to continue the rehab process for a knee
injury he suffered April 24 against the Chicago Fire.
“Today was the first day actually putting on cleats, so it
was pretty exciting,” Cameron said. “I was on the elliptical [machine], and hopefully I’ll be
jogging by Wednesday. In 2-3 weeks, I hope to be cutting, and in 4-5 weeks, I’ll be out on the playing field.”
Waibel named Humanitarian of the Month
Houston Dynamo defender Craig Waibel doesn’t take himself too seriously. Waibel has a lengthy series of Chuck Norris-style jokes that light up internet message boards with classics like ‘Craig Waibel's calendar goes straight from March 31 to April 2’, ‘No one fools Craig Waibel,’ or his personal favorite, ‘Mr. T pities himself when he’s around Craig Waibel.’ He has created a cult-like following in Houston, and it’s this following that has helped Waibel push a local movement that is quickly gaining steam.
Kinnear pleased with Dynamo performance
If Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear were to list each of his goals for Saturday night’s match against CD Águila, the team likely accomplished all of them: raise money for charity, win, stay injury-free, get some experience for some of his younger players, and continue to evaluate the team’s three trialists in a competitive game.
Kinnear was clearly pleased with the way his team performed. In addition to posting a shutout and having four different players score goals, the Dynamo pressed in the second half when they could have easily chosen to sit on their lead.
5 minutes with ... Corey Ashe
HoustonDynamo.com caught up with Corey Ashe after Thursday's training session. Here's what he had to say:
HD: What is your favorite restaurant in Houston?
CA: My favorite restaurant in Houston is probably Chipotle. I usually
get a chicken burrito.
HD: What was your favorite TV show when you were a kid?
CA: My favorite TV show growing up was Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
You can’t go wrong with that.
Canetti's Corner - June 7, 2010

Welcome to edition No. 6 of my weekly blog. It appears on the
new HoustonDynamo.com every Monday.
What’s going on and where do we go from here?
I’m sure that’s what you’re thinking, and that’s fair given the recent results.
After
all, we are not used to going through such difficult times. It’s been
uncharacteristic, unusual, and rough.
Dynamo's Ching: "Things aren't going good"
Pat Onstad's look says it all as the Dynamo drop three straight before the World Cup break
The Houston Dynamo were hoping to find some momentum entering the World
Cup break. Unfortunately for them, they have
found the wrong kind of momentum, as the Dynamo lost their third consecutive
game in falling to the LA Galaxy 4-1 on Saturday.
