MLS Regular Season
Physical, tough, or just plain mean. Whatever you want to call it, the
Houston Dynamo are looking to rekindle the type of play that has had
opposing teams expecting a war when they come to Robertson stadium.

GK: Greg Sutton (New York Red Bulls) – He
not only stopped Shalrie Joseph’s PK for New England, but he also made
several spectacular saves. Could Canada have used him at the Gold Cup?
After a tough first start in Toronto earlier this year and then
biding his time on the bench and with the reserves, Eddie Robinson got the call as a starter
on Saturday night against Chivas USA. Known as an intense competitor,
Robinson was called upon to help rekindle a physical brand of soccer
Houston’s been missing.
As the CONCACAF Gold Cup gets set to stage its quarterfinals next weekend, Houston Dynamo fans may want to pay extra attention. The
club’s coaches sure are.
Through the ups and downs against Chivas USA on Saturday, Houston Dynamo players never felt they were on the brink of disaster. Their reaction to an early pair of mishaps from defender Hunter Freeman is evidence of that.
There was a collective exhale in the Houston Dynamo locker room after
Saturday’s win over Chivas USA. With pressure mounting over the team’s
seven-game winless streak, the 2-1 triumph provided a sigh of relief for a
team looking to rekindle its fighting spirit.
Urgency is starting to set in for the Houston Dynamo. After what
could easily be characterized as a spirited week of training, the Dynamo
are looking to come out and take steps to return to their consistently
physical and high-pressure form. That starts Saturday against Chivas USA (7:30 p.m.), as Houston is looking to turn
up the intensity as a way to get back into the win column.
One player that puts a smile on the faces of fans, teammates and coaches when he’s on the field is Brian Ching.
