It’s a simple formula: grind out results on the road and protect the home field.

Heading into Wednesday's matchup with the defending MLS Cup champion Colorado Rapids (7:30 p.m., Buy Tickets),
that strategy has the Dynamo at the top of the Eastern Conference.
Houston has won its last three home games by a combined score of 8-2,
making any visit to Robertson Stadium a tough task.

The Houston Dynamo are home for a second consecutive game, riding a hot hand as the defending MLS Cup champion Colorado Rapids look to reverse a recent slide when the teams meet Wednesday at Robertson Stadium. The Dynamo have not lost in six games, coming off a dominating 4-1 home win against D.C. United last Friday. The Rapids ended their three-game losing streak last weekend, coming away with a 1-1 draw with Chicago at home.

After a hiccup in Week 1, the Houston Dynamo have put together a well-crafted, six-game unbeaten streak fueled by a locker room that is clicking on all levels.

While the Dynamo are going strong on the field – the attack is steadily improving and the defense is one of the league’s stingiest – the off-the-field chemistry is just as good. The team is getting along, working together, and creating some friendly competition on a team filled with depth.

The first hat trick of the 2011 MLS season was the work of a rookie and he reaped the rewards on Monday.

Rookie forward Will Bruin had a weekend to remember. He scored the first hat trick of his professional career in a game televised nationally on FOX Soccer and FOX Deportes, he was the No. 5 play of the night on ESPN's SportsCenter, and he brought in more than $200 at a bachelor auction to raise money for teammate Danny Cruz's charitable cause on Saturday night. Not a bad weekend at all.
