Houston Dynamo earned a hard-fought tie by shutting out the two-time defending
regular season champion Columbus Crew Saturday night at Robertson Stadium,
finishing in a 0-0 draw. It was the Dynamo’s third consecutive tie in MLS play
since the break for the group stage of the World Cup.

Dynamo will now break from MLS play for two weeks to compete in SuperLiga,
hosting games at Robertson Stadium on July 15, 18, and 21 against Pachuca,
Chivas USA, and Puebla respectively. Houston’s next league game is also against
Columbus, in Ohio on Saturday, July 24.

Ghanaian midfielder Anthony Obodai returned to practice with the Houston Dynamo on Thursday for the first time since his two-week trial ended on June 19.

“Obviously we’re having another look at him,” Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear said. “He impressed when he was here, and we will see him again. We will see where it goes from here.”

Being a war veteran is hard. Veterans provide one of the most honorable
services to the United States but often end up ignored or not shown the proper respect. For Dynamo midfielder Brad Davis,
this is unacceptable.

The Dynamo were amidst a rarity this week: a three-game schedule that left the team no choice but to use the entire roster and hope to patch together a lineup that could still get the job done against Toronto on Thursday night.

“It’s hard going Saturday-Tuesday-Thursday,” said midfielder Brad Davis prior to Thursday's match. “It’s pretty insane, but we’ll get through it, and it gives other players a chance to get minutes, which is good. Nothing we can do about it; we have to go through it.”

Another defensive lapse cost the Houston Dynamo a full three points Thursday night as Toronto FC battled back -- both literally and figuratively -- to tie Houston 1-1 when an unmarked Dan Gargan scored on a set piece in the 83rd minute.
