After a four year stint in the Eastern Conference, the Houston Dynamo are heading back to their roots in the West, Major League Soccer announced today.

With Chivas USA ceasing operations and the addition of East Coast sides Orlando City SC and New York City FC, the Dynamo and Sporting Kansas City are moving to the Western Conference to create two 10-team conferences.

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. – On a night of goodbyes, the Chicago Fire closed out the season with a 2-1 comeback win against a Houston Dynamo side that will wonder how they lost a game they had dominated for long spells.

With Houston coach Dominic Kinnear leading his side out for the final time and Fire legend Logan Pause hanging up his boots after 12 years with the Men in Red, there was plenty of emotion on show on a warm evening at Toyota Park.

A win over the Chicago Fire in Illinois (7 p.m. CT, NBCSN) could see the Dynamo rise two places to finish sixth in the Eastern Conference, depending on how the Philadelphia Union and Toronto FC fare later in the weekend.
