The Dynamo rebounded from a defeat to Charleston in Saturday’s Carolina Challenge Cup opener with a decisive 2-1 victory over MLS newcomers New York City FC on Wednesday. Brad Davis scored the opening goal and assisted on Boniek Garcia’s header as the Dynamo opened a two-goal lead before Mix Diskerud pulled NYCFC within a goal with ten minutes remaining.

CHARLESTON, S.C.—An opportunistic strike in the 69th minute from substitute Austin Savage doomed the Houston Dynamo to their second consecutive preseason loss in a 1-0 result at the Carolina Challenge Cup.
The Houston Dynamo will compete in the Carolina Challenge Cup and the Desert Friendlies next February as part of the 2015 preseason. This marks the third consecutive year in which the Dynamo will spend a portion of their preseason in Tucson, Arizona and Charleston, South Carolina.
The Desert Friendlies, hosted by PDL club FC Tucson, are held at the Kino Sports Complex in Tucson. The Dynamo will face the San Jose Earthquakes (Feb. 4), Portland Timbers (Feb. 7) and Vancouver Whitecaps FC (Feb. 10), with training held throughout the remainder of the trip.
The Houston Dynamo wrapped up their 2014 preseason campaign with a 2-0 win over the Charleston Battery of USL Pro in the final game of the Carolina Challenge Cup at Blackbaud Stadium.
As the final tune-up before the MLS regular season opener against the New England Revolution on March 8, two of the primary objectives of the evening were to give starters their longest runout before the real games start, and to come out of the game unscathed and injury-free. The former was accomplished, as the majority of the starting eleven went at least 80 minutes, if not the full 90.
Brad Davis scored his fourth goal of the preseason in a 1-1 draw against the Seattle Sounders at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston, S.C., as part of the Carolina Challenge Cup.
Both teams trotted out strong starting lineups, and the result was a evenly matched battle for most of the night. Seattle started on the front foot for the first ten minutes, but a 14th minute goal from Davis turned the tide in the Dynamo’s favor.

CHARLESTON, S.C.—The Dynamo dropped their first match of the Carolina Challenge Cup 2-0 to D.C. United on Saturday night. The match was the longest outing of the preseason for Dynamo starters to this point, going 72 minutes as they gear up for the MLS regular season opener against the New England Revolution on March 8.
The Houston Dynamo announced their 2014 preseason schedule today, with training sessions beginning on Monday, January 27. The schedule is tentative and subject to change.
During preseason, the Dynamo will train and play friendlies in Tucson, Ariz., from February 4-10. The Arizona trip will include games against the Portland Timbers, San Jose Earthquakes and Vancouver Whitecaps. All matches will be played at the Kino Sports Complex.
