The CONCACAF Champions League is a 24-team tournament featuring the best club teams in North and Central America and the Caribbean.
Each year, the winner of Champions League earns a berth in the FIFA Club World Cup, a competition between the club champions of all six continental federations plus the domestic winner from the host country. The winner of the 2012-13 tournament will advance to the 2013 FIFA Club World Cup, to be played in December 2013 in Morocco. Previous FIFA Club World Cup winners include: Barcelona (2011, 2009), Inter Milan (2010), Manchester United (2008) and A.C. Milan (2007).
The Houston Dynamo earned a berth in 2012-13 tournament by advancing to the 2011 MLS Cup final. Houston was placed in Group 3 with C.D. Olimpia of Honduras and C.D. FAS of El Salvador and advanced out of the group with a 2-0-2 record (8 points).
The Dynamo will now face Mexican giant Santos Laguna in a home-and-home quarterfinal series.
