The Houston Dynamo announced today details of an open tryout for aspiring soccer players. Dynamo Trials 2016 will begin on Saturday, May 7 at Houston Sports Park and is open to soccer players 17 years of age and older.
This is the eleventh consecutive year in which tryouts have been held. More than 140 soccer players from around the world participated in last year’s edition of Dynamo Trials, competing for a spot on the Dynamo’s first team. This year, players will also be vying for a place on the Dynamo Academy Under-23 team, which will open its third season of competition in May.
The tryout is comprised of a fitness test, skills competition and a game against the Dynamo Academy U-18 team. Participants who pass the fitness test, held on May 7, will be invited back the following day for the skills competition. From there, a select group of players will be invited to compete against the Dynamo Academy U-18s. Players will be evaluated by first team and academy staff.
Registration for Dynamo Trials is $130 and includes a Dynamo Trials T-shirt and one ticket to the Dynamo vs. Real Salt Lake match on May 14 at BBVA Compass Stadium. Partial proceeds from Dynamo Trials 2016 will benefit Dynamo Charities in support of the Dynamo’s youth development system.
Dynamo Trials sponsors include: bhpbilliton, Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, Discount Tire, Wildcat Energy and Advocare.
*Walkup registration is $150.
