Four select teams were named for the event: two for the U-15/16 age group and two for U-17/18. Lucatero will play for the U-17/18 Blue Select Team. The two teams in each age group will face off on Dec. 12 at the Premier Sports Campus. U-15/16s kick off at 5 p.m. CT, with the U-17/18s following at 7 p.m. CT. Game updates will be provided on the Academy/YNT Twitter account @ussoccer_ynt.

Lucatero was recently voted Dynamo Academy Player of the Year at the 2013 Dynamo Celebration. He has been involved in several U.S. Youth National Team training camps, most recently in September. The Pasadena native is one of six players on the U-17/18 select teams who participated in the September camp. The elite Academy players for all four rosters were selected by U.S. Soccer technical advisors, who will also be coaching the teams.

The U.S. Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase will bring every U-16 and U-18 team in the Development Academy to Florida from Dec. 11-15 for a round of games against teams outside their normal conference. The Dynamo U-18s will face a trio of 2013 Finals Week teams in the Seattle Sounders, Shattuck-St. Mary's Soccer Academy and the Vancouver Whitecaps. The U-16s will take on the New York Red Bulls, LA Galaxy and De Anza Force.

The Houston Dynamo Youth Programs concluded their summer camps this past week with a great indoor soccer camp for boys and girls from five to twelve years old at Southwest Indoor Soccer Center in Stafford, Texas.

“One of the best parts of the program this week was the addition of players from all over the world. We had players registered from Guatemala, Mexico, Switzerland, and as far away as Australia,” said Senior Staff Coach Leigh Cullip. In addition to the multi-national feel of the camp, an array of new and repeat campers attended the week with great enthusiasm to learn and play soccer with new friends and new coaches.

The Houston Dynamo Youth Programs strive to facilitate a player oriented environment that engages every player’s imagination and passion for soccer while simultaneously working to challenge each player to improve their technical, tactical, and physical abilities every day. The players in this week’s camp came to learn and did so by following the unique and outstanding Dynamo Programs Curriculum, which included shooting, passing, dribbling and receiving training sessions that were highlighted by concrete coaching delivered by the Houston Dynamo Youth Programs staff.

With the summer camp program concluded until 2014, the next program from the Houston Dynamo Youth Programs will be the Center of Excellence. The CoE is a supplemental training program that operates as two hour, weekly training sessions at satellite locations around Houston for competitive-level boys and girls from seven to thirteen years old. The programs feature the competitive Center of Excellence curriculum, which focuses on individual technique and game awareness. These popular training sessions feature 16 hours of training, a full Dynamo training uniform, a companion ticket to a Dynamo home match and an online player evaluation. Former Dynamo defender Eddie Robinson is the head coach of the U-16 club and helped guide the team to the elite Finals Week in just his second season in his new coaching role.

U.S. Soccer spoke with Eddie this week about his new role. From the article:

"The biggest part is understanding the psychology of 15- and 16-year-olds,” Robinson said. “Understanding that there’s so much outside the field that I can’t do anything with. My job is to create an environment that not only teaches them soccer and fundamentals, but also builds character. That’s what we’ve done here.”
