After 10-year Chicago Fire veteran left back Gonzalo Segares announced his retirement on Friday, Dynamo captain Brad Davis now has the longest-tenure with one club among active MLS players. (Thanks to Kurt Austin with Sporting Kansas City for alerting us to this note.)
Davis, 33, is entering his tenth season with the Dynamo after following the club from San Jose in December 2005. His nine years of service with the Dynamo eclipse teammate Corey Ashe (eight years) and the veteran Real Salt Lake trio of Nick Rimando, Kyle Beckerman and Javier Morales (eight years each).
Davis is entering his 14th season overall in MLS and with 112 assists is tied for fourth on the league’s all-time assist list. Davis is also ninth on the all-time games list, with 338 regular-season appearances, and could climb as high as fifth this season.
Below is the list of active MLS players with the longest tenure with one club.
|PLAYER||CLUB||CONSECUTIVE YEARS WITH CLUB (through 2014)||AGE|
|Nick Rimando||Real Salt Lake||8||35|
|Kyle Beckerman||Real Salt Lake||8||32|
|Javier Morales||Real Salt Lake||8||35|
