Dynamo midfielder Brian Ownby and the Richmond Kickers defeated Orlando City SC on Wednesday night to claim the 2013 USL PRO Regular Season Championship. Ownby played the full 90 minutes in the match and assisted on the latter of Matthew Delicâte's two goals (1:31 in video below).
Ownby is second on the team in both goals (7) and assists (6) in 19 games played this season.
Richmond, with a 15-1-9 record and 54 points, is three points ahead of second place Orlando City with one match to play. By clinching the top spot, Richmond is guaranteed homefield advantage throughtout the playoffs.
The Kickers finish the regular season this Saturday against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds before hosting a playoff quarterfinal match the next week against an opponent to be determined.

Houston Dynamo players Will Bruin and Mike Chabala visited the Texas Children's Cancer Center for their Bald is Beautiful campaign, which will raise money for the Curing Children's Cancer Fund this year. Bruin, Chabala and other Dynamo players and staff will shave their heads in support of these children.

Real Salt Lake and the Houston Dynamo meet in a crucial interconference match for both clubs on Saturday evening at Rio Tinto Stadium. Still holders of the league’s best overall record, RSL haven’t won in three league games, returning home off a 2-2 draw at the Colorado Rapids last weekend – but advanced to the U.S. Open Cup final at midweek. Cam Weaver's gorgeous goal may not have been the decisive one in the Houston Dynamo's 3-1 victory over the Columbus Crew last weekend, but it was the AT&T Goal of the Week winner in Week 23.
Weaver's late insurance goal in the Dynamo's win at BBVA Compass Stadium took home this week's award after earning a little more than 47 percent of the vote. Weaver found the top corner of the Crew's goal in the 85th minute, hitting a beautiful shot with the outside part of his right foot after teammate Will Bruin knocked down a cross in his direction.
Seattle Sounders forward Obafemi Martins came in second place with about 29 percent of all votes.
