Houston Dash Acquire Swiss International Ramona Bachmann in Transfer from Paris Saint-Germain

HOUSTON (Tuesday, April 2, 2024) – *The Houston Dash completed the transfer of Switzerland international Ramona Bachmann from Paris Saint-Germain for an agreed-upon fee, both clubs announced today. Bachmann joins the Dash through the 2026 season and the transfer is pending receipt of her P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate.

"The accolades Ramona has won speak for themselves and we are thrilled to add a veteran that has not only competed at the highest level, but won major trophies along the way,” Dash General Manager Alex Singer said. “She adds a new dimension to how we approach our offense and capitalize on the opportunities we create in the final third. We look forward to watching her impact both on and off the field.”

Bachmann joins the Dash after spending the last three seasons with Paris Saint-Germain. She won the D1 Arkemaleague title during the 2020-2021 season and the Coupe de France féminine the following year. She led the club to the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League in the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 campaign. PSG reached the quarterfinals of the tournament last year and recently advanced to the semifinals of the competition after defeating BK Häcken 5-1 on aggregate.

The forward has spent the last 17 years as a professional and amassed 18 domestic titles and cups since making her debut in 2007 as a teenager. Bachmann has won a trophy with five clubs during her professional career, beginning with a treble with Umeå IK in Sweden in 2007. The forward spent a brief spell with the Atlanta Beat of the WPS in 2010 before returning to Sweden to play for Umeå (2010-2011) where she scored 27 goals and won five championships and FC Rosengård (2011-2015), scoring 27 goals and winning five championships.

The Swiss international spent the 2015-2016 season with VfL Wolfsburg, where she won the DFB-Pokal Frauen (cup tournament) prior to signing with Chelsea FC in 2016. The forward added five domestic titles and cups during her tenure in west London, scoring the game-winning goal over Arsenal in the 2018 Women’s FA Cup Final.

Bachmann has scored more than 50 goals on the international stage for Switzerland since making her debut with the senior national team in 2007. She led Switzerland to their first FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2015 and reached the Round of 16. Bachmann recently competed at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand where she scored Switzerland’s opening goal and reached the Round of 16. The forward has earned more than 140 caps for Switzerland and has helped the national team reach the 2017 and 2022 UEFA Women’s Championship. Additionally, the forward was named the Swiss female Player of the Year in 2009 and again in 2015.

The Dash return to Shell Energy Stadium on Friday, April 12 to host the Washington Spirit. The match on April 12 will mark the 10th anniversary of the first Houston Dash match ever played. The team hosted the Portland Thorns on April 12, 2014, for the first match in team history.
