In the off
chance you were consumed by the decline of the stock market yesterday, you may
have missed the news regarding the 2010
AT&T MLS All-Star Game
. Local politicians hope that the spectacle will
show the world that Houston
is a prime candidate to host a World
Cup game
.  It is believed Manchester
United will bring some its top
stars
, including Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes.

The rivalry
between Chivas USA
and the Houston Dynamo will
continue this weekend
. Chivas will look to avenge the 3-0 loss they
suffered April 17 at Robertson Stadium.
Defender Eddie Robinson will miss
this weekend’s contest
but hasn’t ruled out a return for next Thursday’s
match at Real Salt Lake.

In part
because of his ability to garner a new stadium for the Dynamo, the Houston Chronicle
considers Oliver Luck the top dog in its rankings of Houston-area general
managers.

Exhibition
matches offer the best chance for players, who do not normally see the field, to
impress their coaches. Although Danny Cruz got a late
start to soccer
, he has blossomed quickly and will look to parlay the June
10 friendly in Corpus Christi
into more playing time.

Although
his playing days are behind him, the fire
that burns
inside Dynamo assistant coach Wade Barrett has not gone out.
Anyone up for a 50k run?

On May 22
the Houston Dynamo will host a Champions
of Hope
event to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  Click here for special ticket offers.

Former
Dynamo trialist Léandre Griffit recently
signed
with the Columbus Crew.  Be
sure to have your French dictionary nearby.

Major League
Soccer announced
today
that Montreal
will join the league in 2010, becoming the 19th member of MLS.

With the
new rules regarding Designated Players, teams are faced with the
decision
of sacrificing team performance for the opportunity to make money
through sponsorships and merchandise.
Luis Landín was quoted in this story.

May 19,
2010 is an important day for the city of Houston.
It is the day Houston residents compete against Rome, Italy
in Challenge
Day 2010
, an international competition to see which cities in the worlds
are most active.
