Houston, you have All-Star representation. No Dynamo players were
named to the First XI, but on Monday, Dynamo stars Brad Davis and Brian Ching were officially added to the squad
to represent MLS in next week’s All-Star Game against Manchester United.

“It’s great, and I’m happy for both of them,” said Dynamo head
coach Dominic Kinnear, who is serving as Bruce Arena’s assistant for the
MLS squad. “It adds some local flavor to the game, and I think both
guys are deserving and should be involved. I am really pleased for both
of our guys.”

Davis is making his third All-Star appearance.
However, this one means a little more – not just because of the team he
gets the opportunity to face, but also because the game is here in Space
City. As a lifelong Manchester United fan, Davis is also thrilled
to face off against a player whose game he has always admired from afar
as a fellow lefty.

“Ryan Giggs is a legend in Manchester,” said
the midfielder. “He was one of the best players in the world in his
prime. I’m looking forward to playing against him and hopefully trading
jerseys with him.”

For Ching, the All-Star Game provides him the
opportunity to play host on several fronts. First, the striker is
hosting a charity event at the House of Blues following the game and
hopes to raise funds for a good cause: his charity, the House That Ching
Built.

In addition, the now
four-time All-Star gets to host his fellow MLS All-Stars and play with
each of them, including former teammates Landon Donovan and Dwayne De Rosario.

“For me, the best part of the All-Star game is to get to know the
other guys on the team and getting to play with them,” noted Ching. “We
have some talented players in the league, and getting to play with them
makes the game enjoyable.”

“Having the All-Star game here is a
huge reward for our fans and organization,” continued the Dynamo
forward. “It’s a good opportunity to watch some good soccer by some of
the best guys in the league.”
