Houston Dynamo learn schedule for group stage of 2013-14 CONCACAF Champions League

Dynamo open group stage on road before hosting Árabe Unido on Aug. 27

The Houston Dynamo learned their schedule for the group stage of the 2013-14 CONCACAF Champions League in an announcement from CONCACAF today.

The Dynamo are in Group 1 and will open their Champions League campaign on the road on Tuesday, Aug. 20 against W Connection of Trinidad and Tobago at 7 p.m. CT. Houston will return home to BBVA Compass Stadium a week later for a match against Árabe Unido of Panama on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. CT. The Dynamo will host W Connection on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. CT. Houston finishes group play on the road against Árabe Unido on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. CT.

Tickets for both group stage home matches are included in Dynamo full season ticket packages. Individual tickets for these matches are now available by calling 713-276-GOAL.

The top team from Group 1 will qualify for the quarterfinals, to be held over two legs next spring. The tournament champion will qualify for the 2014 FIFA Club World Cup in Morocco in December 2014.

Last season, the Dynamo played their first two group stage games on the road before concluding the group stage with two home games. Houston won its group to advance to the quarterfinals.

This is the sixth appearance for the Dynamo in the regional championship, including semifinal runs in the 2007 and 2008 Champions’ Cup tournaments. The Dynamo advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2008-09 edition and returned to the quarterfinals of the 2012-2013 tournament before falling to Santos Laguna of Mexico, 3-1 on aggregate. Houston qualified for the upcoming campaign by advancing to the 2012 MLS Cup Final.
