Dynamo Academy Report: U-16s continue Generation adidas Cup with win over Columbus Crew
Juan Flores scored the opening goal to deliver a 1-0 lead for the U-16s. The strike continues a breakout season for Flores, who has 18 goals in 20 games within the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Central Conference this season.
Later, Christian Lucatero stamped his name on the score sheet in his tournament debut for the final goal in the 2-0 win. It was Lucatero’s first game in the tournament after taking part in a ten-day camp with the United States U-18 national team from April 4-13.
Lucatero has 10 goals in 18 games with the U-16s this season.
The Academy also received standout performances from Jacob Salome, Nixon Urrutia and Giandemire Jaen in the victory.
The U-16s have five points after three games in the Generation adidas Cup – a regulation win, a shoot out win and a 1-0 loss against Montreal on Tuesday – and are currently tied for third place in the Domestic Division with the Montreal Impact. Sporting Kansas City leads the group with eight points with D.C. United in second with six.
Houston has two remaining games in the completion, beginning Friday night at 5 p.m. when it faces D.C. United. The U-16s finish the tournament on Saturday morning against Chivas USA.
