PREVIEW

The Dash return to Houston to take on the Chicago Red Stars after coming from behind to tie FC Kansas City 2-2 on Sunday. Houston snapped a four game scoreless streak that had reached 385 minutes. The Dash will look to carry their momentum tonight against a Chicago team making their first and only visit of the year to BBVA Compass Stadium. The teams met earlier this season in Chicago in a 1-0 Red Stars win.

DASH COME FROM BEHIND TO EARN ROAD POINT

The Houston Dash were able to make two comebacks against FC Kansas City on Sunday, ultimately ending their four-game losing streak. FCKC jumped out to a quick lead with a goal in the 2nd minute of play. 2013 NWSL MVP Lauren Holiday made her presence felt by finding the back of the net for the first goal of the game. The Dash tied the game up in the 20th minute thanks to Jordan Jackson's first professional goal. Jackson received a pass from Nina Burger in the penalty box and put it past the FCKC goalkeeper. FCKC regained the lead in the 36th minute thanks to the play of 2013 NWSL Rookie of the Year Erika Tymrak. Tymrak nutmegged Osinachi Ohale then beat Dash goalkeeper Erin McLeod with a tight shot that stayed just inside the far post. The Dash continued to fight, and would ultimately prevail with a game-tying goal in the 78th minute. Tiffany McCarty, who replaced Jackson in the second half, slipped a shot inside the near post for the equalizer.

LAST TIME AGAINST CHICAGO

After a three hour weather delay, the Houston Dash fell to the Chicago Red Stars 1-0 in front of 1,039 fans in Chicago on May 11. Red Stars forward Jen Hoy provided the only goal in the 33rd minute when she found the back of the net after a Dash turnover in their own zone. Bianca Henninger made her season debut in net for the Dash due to an injury to regular starter Erin McLeod. Despite the goal, she finished with six saves to keep the Dash in the game. The Dash had opportunities late, with forward Tiffany McCarty sending a shot that just missed the top right corner of the net in stoppage time.

SCOUTING THE CHICAGO RED STARS

Chicago Red Stars are led by captain Lori Chalupny and Vanessa . This season Jen Hoy has led the Red Star attack with three goals, two of which have been game winners. Chicago has brought in goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc, a member of the 2013 NWSL Champion Portland Thorns. Last season she led all NWSL goalkeepers in wins during the regular season with 11. She’s currently 4-2 on the year with two shutouts. The Red Stars have been hard to beat as of late. They currently have a three-game winning streak, during which they have outscored their opponents 8-2. This stretch of good play has put the Red Stars second in the NWSL standings with 13 points.
