Dynamo defender Bobby Boswell took some time after practice on Thursday to answer a few questions from HoustonDynamo.com about his life, on and off the field.
HD: In your soccer career, you have played with D.C. United and with Houston. How would you compare the two cities?
BB: I don't think you can really compare the two; they are very different. D.C. was great for all the monuments and the history that was there. I lived on Capitol Hill, and I got to see the monuments every day. Houston has more of the Texas culture; it's almost like its own country. The people are great, and I really enjoy the rodeo. It's definitely a better city to be single in.
HD: Did you have a favorite monument to visit when you lived in D.C.?
BB: I lived exactly a mile from the Capitol, so I was at Union Station a lot. It's something you take for granted while you are there, and when you move away you realize how awesome the city is.
HD: What is your favorite prank you have played on an unsuspecting teammate?
BB: I used to have some wars with some guys. I've gotten guys in both Houston and D.C., but I think my favorite prank was actually one that was done to me. I had planned to get [D.C. United midfielder] Santino Quaranta and a couple guys on a preseason road trip, but instead they had broken into my room and took out all the furniture. I mean EVERYTHING was gone when I got back to the room. It was pretty interesting. I had to sleep in a different room that night, because they never told me where my bed was. I'm pretty sure the hotel staff hated us, but it was an interesting prank.
HD: What is your most memorable MLS experience?
BB: There are so many. I remember almost everything. I remember goals we've scored and goals we've given up. People will say the Chelsea game my rookie year -- I scored a goal against them. I think being a part of the All-Star team [in 2006] when we beat Chelsea and Dwayne [De Rosario] scored. To be a part of a great group of guys like that, it was a lot of fun.
HD: Who is a soccer player you admired growing up?
BB: I really liked Zinedine Zidane. It's kind of an easy answer, because he was so great, but he was so much fun to watch. He was very smooth, and even though you knew what he was going to do, he still did it.
HD: What are some things you like to do in your free time away from the field?
BB: I hang out with the guys. I love music and go to more concerts than most people aside from maybe music critics. I like The Killers live, even though they are big dorks. Kings of Leon are great too, as well as Chris Cornell's 3.5-hour set he did in Houston. I do that and go to the movies a lot. Most of the time I'm doing something active with my friends.
HD: When can we expect to see the return of BobbyBoswell.com?
BB: I would like to start it up. It's just tough to have something like that when the team isn't doing well and people look at it as a distraction. It's something I had fun doing. I think it will be different than it was before, but it's something we are going to try and bring back.
