AEG president and CEO Tim Leiweke on Tuesday stole the headlines in Houston, announcing that he has green-lighted the team to pursue a Designated Player for the 2011 season, marking the second DP in franchise history.
But after Luis Ángel Landín played for less than year with the club as the first DP from 2009-10, the Dynamo need to choose wisely. And according to Leiweke, the player will likely be Hispanic, falling in line with the club's first DP selection and the changing face of the Houston market and the MLS fan base.
