Dynamo midfielder Anthony Obodai underwent surgery last week to repair a torn meniscus and is out indefinitely, head coach Dominic Kinnear announced on Monday following Houston's training session.

Athletic trainer Theron Enns confirmed that Obodai had surgery to repair a tear to the medial meniscus in his left knee but did not put a timetable on his return.

Obodai left the August 21 match against the Chicago Fire after 49 minutes after colliding with an opponent in the first half and appearing to limp through his remaining minutes. He started the August 28 match against the Colorado Rapids but left the game after 25 minutes, and Kinnear did not mention injury as a reason for the substitution. Obodai was not on the 18-man gameday roster for the September 5 match against San Jose.

The 28-year-old Ghanaian was signed in July on a free transfer from Dutch club RKC Waalwijk. He has appeared in six competitive games for the Dynamo, starting two SuperLiga matches and four MLS games.

The Dynamo return to MLS action this Saturday after a two-week break, hosting Toronto FC at Robertson Stadium at 7:30 p.m. in the club's final Saturday night home game of the regular season. A special fireworks display will follow Saturday's game. Special ticket deals are available at HoustonDynamo.com/tickets.
