Houston Dynamo midfielder Danny Cruz has returned to training at Nottingham Forest. The 20-year-old worked out with the English Championship side last year and cites the experience as playing a major part of his success in 2010.

“That was my secret last year — to go overseas,” Cruz before leaving for England. “It’s a different mentality, and it’s good to try something new. I went to Nottingham Forest last year, and it helped me as I don’t need the same amount of time off. Three months off and I might be pulling out my hair.”

Cruz, who is an member of the Generation Adidas program, played in 25 league games, starting 14 of them, in 2010 and produced two goals and two assists.

“I think I took a step in the right direction [in 2010,] and I learned what I need to do to be an every week starter,” explained Cruz.

In addition to training with Nottingham Forest again, Cruz will join the Generation Adidas tour in Spain before reuniting with his Dynamo teammates in January.

“Hopefully I can take this offseason to get better like I did last offseason,” said Cruz. “I plan to go about it the exact same way and come in and be good in the preseason like I was in the previous offseason.”
