“This is a critical match for the Dynamo as we look to advance in the Open Cup,” Dynamo President Chris Canetti said. “This tournament is rich with tradition, and we are eager to make a good showing. Playing it at College Station gives us a unique opportunity to showcase our team and our sport in an outlying soccer-savvy market. We hope to duplicate the successful results from 2007.”

The winner of the Houston-Kansas City match will advance to the final round of Major League Soccer qualifying for the Open Cup, hosting the New England Revolution, Philadelphia Union, or D.C. United on a date to be announced in May.

The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup enters its 98th year as the oldest annual soccer tournament in the United States. The knockout tournament is open to all clubs affiliated with U.S. Soccer, including professional and amateur teams.
