Amazingly, the season is upon us. The first MLS match is tonight when Seattle hosts Los Angeles (8:30 p.m., ESPN).

The countdown is on for our match against Philly this Saturday at Robertson Stadium (7:30 p.m., Buy Tickets). Needless to say, we are very excited and go into the match and season with a lot of hope and anticipation.

The preseason was a success. The team worked hard, presented a great attitude, stayed mostly healthy, and produced good results. We played 12 matches and had a record of 8-1-3. The results are nice, but the most important thing is how we played and what we learned from the matches. Overall, I think it is fair to say that the team gelled nicely and is ready.

I am very excited to watch the team’s development. In particular, I am looking forward to seeing …

  • Tally Hall taking the reins in goal.
  • Kofi Sarkodie and Will Bruin’s contributions and growth.
  • Colin Clark’s return to action and Dynamo debut.
  • The revamped defense, led by newcomers Jermaine Taylor and Hunter Freeman.
  • Geoff Cameron leading the central midfield attack.
  • Brad Davis performing at the top of his game.

It is a very busy week, so I’m going to quickly run through some items.

All Dynamo games are on TV in 2011. There will be eight games nationally televised on ESPN2, Fox Soccer Channel, TeleFutura, or Galavision. Locally telecast games can be seen in English on KHOU 11.2 and FOX Sports Houston or FOX Sports Houston Plus. KHOU will air 26 games and is primarily available on Comcast. FSH and FSH Plus will simulcast 16 games and are primarily on Comcast, DirectTV, Dish Network, and AT&T Uverse.

We will announce a new Spanish TV partner this week, and it will be good news. The schedule of games on TV can be seen here on our schedule page, and monthly schedules of all programming can be found here.

The first meeting of the Dynamo Fan Advisory Board is tonight. I’d like to thank the board members for their participation and look forward to working with them on improving the fan experience.

We are playing Sporting Kansas City in a U.S. Open Cup game on Wednesday, April 6, at Texas A&M (Buy Tickets). In 2007, we played a CONCACAF match there and drew a big crowd. We hope to duplicate results this time around. Moving the game provides us a chance to extend our brand and helps avoid a cluttered soccer schedule.

There are many great Countdown to Kickoff events happening all week. For a schedule, click here.

We have made some changes to our camps, now known as the Dynamo Pre-Academy. Information and camp dates are now available by clicking here.

Stadium construction continues … the roads have been removed, and underground work has begun. The first key step is relocating an underground sewer line that currently runs down the middle of the stadium.

I hope you share the excitement over the new season and are ready to support our team as we look to return to form in 2011.

See you at the final opening day at Robertson Stadium this weekend!
