The Houston Dynamo U-16s (9-5-1) continued their push for one of the two automatic playoff berths from the Texas Division with a 2-1 win over Solar SC and a 0-0 draw against the Dallas Texans last weekend in Dallas, TX. With only one division game left in their season, the U-16s are tied with Texas Rush for first in the division with 28 points, but the Rush have one game in hand on Houston and both Solar and the Dallas Texans have four games in hand. The Dynamo U-18s (3-9-3) snapped a four-game losing streak on Saturday, defeating Solar SC 1-0, but fell to Dallas Texans on Sunday 2-0.

Riding a four-game losing streak and an eight-game winless streak, the U-18s once again played without four starters who traveled to Sandy, Utah, for the Dynamo Reserves match against Real Salt Lake. Dynamo goalkeeper Pedro Gutierrez Mora gave his squad a boost in the ninth minute, when he dove to the right to stop an early Solar penalty kick. Minutes later, Gutierrez Mora collected a ball off a corner kick and found forward Nono in open space. Nono brought the ball down, dribbled into the box and found a streaking Abe Matamoros, who fired home a left-footed strike to give the Dynamo the lead. The goal proved enough for Houston, as a stout defense held off a late Solar attack en route to a 1-0 victory for the visitors. On Sunday, the U-18s succumbed to a second-minute goal and could not recover, falling 2-0 to the Dallas Texans.

The U-16s continue to impress over the weekend, coming back from a 1-0 deficit on Saturday to defeat Solar. Forward Lorenzo Salazar entered the game in the 46th minute and made an immediate impact, scoring his sixth goal of the season less than three minutes later. Salazar tallied his second goal of the match in the 63rd minute to double the Dynamo lead and secure the victory. On Sunday, the squad faced a Dallas Texans squad desperate for points and was unable to come away with a goal as the game ended scoreless. The draw extended Houston's unbeaten streak to seven games.

Both squads will play a non-conference match this Sunday against Indiana United at the Houston Amateur Sports Park. The U-18s kick off at 10 a.m., with the U-16s to follow at 12:30 p.m.
