Midfielder Alex Dixon undergoes surgery

Houston Dynamo rookie midfielder Alex Dixon underwent surgery today on the third finger of his left hand, the club announced. The procedure to stabilize the fracture was performed by hand specialist Dr. Evan Collins of the Methodist Hospital System. Expected recovery time for the surgery is 2-3 weeks.


Dixon, who scored his first professional goal on August 20 against Real Salt Lake, suffered the injury during the September 1 MLS Reserve League match against the Colorado Rapids.


Currently in third place in the Eastern Conference, the Dynamo will face second-place Sporting Kansas City and first-place Columbus on the road Sept. 10 and 14 before returning home on Saturday, September 17, to host the San Jose Earthquakes at 7:30 p.m. at Robertson Stadium.
