Houston Dynamo midfielder Geoff Cameron is raising money for the Fisher House and Ronald McDonald House with his 20 for 20 campaign, which includes a video-game tournament, online donations, and a special ticket package for the Dynamo’s September 17 match, the club announced today.

Cameron, who wears No. 20, hopes to raise a total of $20,000 for the two charities that assist family members in staying near hospitalized loved ones, whether military veterans (Fisher House) or children (Ronald McDonald House).

“They say when you’re around your loved ones, mentally and physically, you’re more successful in recovering faster,” Cameron said. “I strongly believe that, especially given my experience rehabbing and recovering from my knee injury last year. … This campaign will provide the Fisher House and Ronald McDonald House with much-needed supplies to continue helping families in need.”

Fans can also participate by purchasing a special ticket package to the Dynamo’s September 17 game against the San Jose Earthquakes, receiving a ticket, a Geoff Cameron T-shirt, and a chance to meet Cameron after the match for only $20.

Cameron will also be hosting a fundraising event in the form of an Xbox FIFA 2012 tournament, to be held on Saturday, October 8, at the Microsoft store in the Galleria. The $20 entry fee includes a T-shirt and the chance to square off against Dynamo players in the tournament. Registration is available by clicking here or by going to HoustonDynamo.com/20for20.
