Meet the 2012 Dynamo trialists

The Houston Dynamo opened camp on Monday with many old faces and a few new ones. New faces in camp ranged from MLS SuperDraft picks to MLS Supplemental Draft picks to players invited in for preseason camp with the hope of earning a spot on the roster. Here is a little more information on each player in camp:

Eder Arreola (M)

  • 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft pick (First Round, No. 18 overall)
  • Played four years at UCLA (2008-2011)
  • Scored 8 goals and added 18 assists in 80 career collegiate games
  • 2011 All-Pac-10 First Team
  • 2010 All-Pac-10 Second Team
  • Played for the U.S. at the 2011 CONCACAF U-20 Championships
  • Has represented the U.S. at U-20, U-18, U-17, U-16 and U-15 levels
  • Entered UCLA at only 16 years of age


Philip Aseweh (F)

  • 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft pick (Third Round, No. 56 overall)
  • Played three years at Liberty University (2009-2011) and one year at Virginia Tech (2008)
  • Scored 19 goals and added 21 assists in 70 career collegiate games
  • Two-time All-Big South First Team (2010 and 2011)
  • 2011 All-South Atlantic Region
  • Named to Capitol One Men's Soccer Academic All-America team


Warren Creavalle (D/M)

  • 2012 MLS SuperDraft pick (Second Round,  No. 37 overall)
  • Played at Furman University (2008 and 2009) and University of Central Florida (2010 and 2011)
  • Scored 8 goals and added 10 assists in 73 career collegiate games
  • Two-time All-Conference USA First Team (2010 and 2011)
  • Two-time All-Southern Conference Second Team (2008 and 2009)
  • Played for U.S. U-20 national team on a tour of Spain against Real Madrid, Atletico Marid, and Rayo Vallecano (2008)
  • Played for Carolina Dynamo (PDL) in 2010


Jorge Escobar (M)

  • Central midfielder who spent two years in the Dynamo Academy (2008-2009)
  • Named 2008 Dynamo Academy Player of the Year
  • Led Dynamo Academy squad to 2008 Dallas Cup championship
  • Played two seasons for Honduran club Motagua (2010-11)
  • Graduated high school from Fort Bend Hightower


Erich Marscheider (GK)

  • 19-year-old goalkeeper from Colorado
  • Played for Colorado Rush Developmental Academy
  • 2009 Colorado High School Soccer Coaches Association Honorable Mention
  • Earned Golden Gloves honors as top goalkeeper in 2011 for Colorado Rush program


Karo Okiomah (F)

  • 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft pick (First Round, No. 12 overall)
  • Played four years at High Point University (2008-2011)
  • Scored 29 goals and added 10 assists in 68 collegiate games
  • 2011 All-Big South Conference Second Team
  • 2010 Big South Conference Player of the Year
  • 2010 All-Big South Conference First Team
  • Played three seasons for Carolina Dynamo (PDL)


Brian Ownby (M)

  • 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft pick (First Round, No. 7 overall)
  • Played four years at the University of Virginia (2008-2011)
  • Scored 19 goals and added 10 assists in 72 career collegiate games
  • 2011 All-ACC Second Team and NSCAA All-South Atlantic Region Third Team
  • 2010 All-ACC Freshman Team
  • Played for USA at FIFA U-20 World Cup (scored one goal in group stage match against Cameroon)
  • 2007 Virginia high school player of the year


Oscar Recio (D)

  • 22-year-old defender from Monterrey, Mexico
  • Most recently played for Club de Futbol Indios (Mexico) but has also seen time with Atlante (Mexico)
  • Spent time in Monterrey FC youth program
  • Participated in 2007 Pan American Games for Mexico U-20s


Daniel Roberts (M)

  • 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft pick (Fourth Round, No. 75 overall)
  • Played five years at the University of North Carolina - Wilmington (was granted medical redshirt in 2010)
  • Scored 12 goals and added 18 assists in 65 career collegiate games
  • 2011 All-CAA First Team
  • 2009 All-CAA Third Team; led Seahawks to first CAA title and second round of the NCAA tournament
  • 2007 All-Rookie Team
  • One of the original members of the Dynamo Academy
  • Trained with Dynamo first team during the summer of 2008
  • Graduated high school from Fort Bend Clements


Darryl Roberts (F)

  • Arguably the most accomplished non-contract player in the Dynamo camp
  • 28-year-old forward from Trinidad and Tobago
  • Has 21 career caps for the Trinidad national team and has scored six goals
  • Played 80 games for Denizlispor (Turkey) and scored 28 goals (2008-2011)
  • Played 34 games for Sparta Rotterdam (Netherlands) and scored 13 goals
  • Finished second on Liberty University all-time points list, and third in all-time goals
  • Originally drafted by Toronto FC in 2007 MLS Supplemental Draft but signed contract with Sparta Rotterdam instead of MLS
  • Started 21 games as a freshman at Liberty University and scored 17 goals with seven assists
