Fans donate over 7,500 meals at BBVA Compass Dynamo Charities Cup food drive

The Houston Dynamo hosted Valencia CF of Spain in the fourth edition of the BBVA Compass Dynamo Charities Cup on Thursday night with Valencia earning a 2-1 victory.


Partial proceeds from the match benefited Junior Achievement, an organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness and financial literacy.


In addition, Dynamo Charities and BBVA Compass and held a food drive at the stadium with all donations benefiting Houston Food Bank. The first 5,000 fans to bring non-perishable items to the collection bins at BBVA Compass Stadium received a Dynamo cinch bag, courtesy of BBVA Compass. Due to generous donations from fans, Houston Food Bank will be able to provide 7,563 meals to the Houston community.  


The BBVA Compass Dynamo Charities Cup charitable efforts will continue with the Jerseys Off Their Backs Auction, with every Dynamo player jersey available for auction until June 15. Proceeds will benefit Junior Achievement and the jerseys include a special notation of the Dynamo-Valencia matchup and date in the center of the chest as well as the BBVA Compass Dynamo Charities Cup crest.

In addition, this fall, Dynamo Charities and BBVA Compass will work to create a Business in Sports program with Junior Achievement to help foster and create future entrepreneurs.
