Canetti's Corner

Canetti's Corner - June 18, 2012

What a night on Saturday! I think it was our best showing overall at BBVA Compass Stadium thus far. The crowd was electric and the drama of the game played out perfectly on national TV.

You were loud and proud in support of the squad and the boys responded well. It was great to see the fan engagement - raising scarves when the team took the field, chanting the last names of the players during intros, singing the national anthem in unison, standing for corners and set pieces, doing the wave, chanting “Lets go Dynamo,” and going crazy after goals.

I think the elevated crowd energy was a result of it being an evening match and the tension of the FC Dallas rivalry.

There is no doubt in my mind that the crowd helps lift the players. I want the energy and environment in our stadium to be unlike any other, and I see that (along with winning) as the key to growing the sport and support for the Dynamo. Let’s keep it going!

We are happy to have “El Capitan” staying right here in Houston for another year, taking up its rightful spot at the end of the player tunnel.

Will Bruin’s goal was his sixth of the year. No Dynamo player had more than five goals for all of 2011.

I don’t recall seeing Adam Moffat score from less than 35 yards out.

We are 3-1-2 since opening BBVA Compass Stadium and have taken 10 out of 12 possible points at home.

The upcoming stretch will be critical for us. After a strange start-and-stop schedule for the first three months (where we played just 13 games) we get going with a consistent run of games. We now play nine games over the next six weeks. Crazy! All of them are against Eastern Conference sides with six of those matches being at home. This is our time to make a run.

Did you notice that by the time 7:30 p.m. rolled around, the entire stadium was in shade? This is good seeing that 13 of our final 15 games will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. or later.

We are still awaiting the approval of Oscar Boniek Garcia’s visa. We hope to have it settled this week and in camp with the club ASAP. We are still expecting him to be available for the home match vs. Philadelphia Union on June 30.

I hope to see everyone on Wednesday when we host Toronto FC. Let's bring the noise and make it two-in-a-row!

I hope everyone had a Happy Father's Day.
