Dynamo defender Jermaine Taylor has been named to the MLS Team of the Week for Week 18. Taylor played center back against the Chicago Fire and Sporting Kansas City and anchored a defense that posted consecutive shutouts for the first time since May. The Jamaican international went toe-to-toe with second-year sensation C.J. Sapong, provided strong coverage for the midfield and helped clean up loose balls in front of the goal. The talented defender showed off his distribution skills during the Kansas City game, notably sending a ball behind the Kansas City backline for Boniek Garcia to run on to that would have given the Dynamo the lead if it had not been for a sprawling save by Jimmy Nielsen.

This is Taylor’s first Team of the Week honor for the 2012 season.
