When the Dynamo entered their stretch of three home games in seven days, a reasonable expectation would have been to come away with seven points and inch slowly up the Eastern Conference standings. With two of three matches coming against the top two teams in the conference, and the third coming against a team that gave the Dynamo their most recent loss, three wins in three games would have been a pipe dream for most outsiders. But that wasn't the case for the men on the inside.

"At the beginning of the week, we set out to try and get max points, and now we have put ourselves in a good position to do that," Dynamo forward Calen Carr said after Wednesday's 2-1 win over Sporting Kansas City.
Following the first two games of the homestand, the Dynamo are 2-0 and have outscored their opponents 6-1. The win improves the Dynamo's overall unbeaten streak to five (3-0-2) and improves their home winning streak to 18 games dating back to June 2011. On Saturday, the Dynamo will conclude their homestand with a match against the Montreal Impact.
"This homestand has been good to us so far," Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear said. "The guys have been playing well, giving all they can, and it's good to see us climbing the table a bit."
After last night's win, the Dynamo moved into a tie with the Chicago Fire for fourth place in the Eastern Conference, but hold the edge over Chicago with a better goal differential. Houston currently sits five points behind conference-leading Sporting Kansas City, and with a win this weekend and a D.C. United loss, the Dynamo have the opportunity to creep into third place in the East.
"I think with the three-point rule, if you go on a winning streak, the three-point rule is such a big boost," Kinnear said. "If you put wins together you can either create a gap on teams behind you or pick up points on teams in front of you."
