Canetti's Corner - November 1

DL_Canettis_Corner

Good Thursday morning Dynamo fans,

It's 2:02 a.m., and I'm on-board the team flight back from Chicago. As you can imagine, it is a happy airplane. We are bringing home a playoff victory and are ready to move on to the next round.

Are you ready?

We need you there for this BIG game:

  • Dynamo vs. Sporting KC
  • BBVA Compass Stadium
  • Sunday, November 4, 2:30 p.m.

We have just about three days to sell out this game and deliver a home-field advantage for our team. Many fans have already purchased their seats. Have you?

There have been so many great playoff moments over our history, and for the first time, we get to have one at the new stadium. It will be rocking. I can't wait.

Like our slogan says, "It's Playoff Time. Dream. Scream. Believe!"

We take on Sporting KC in a two-game series (the second leg is on Wednesday in KC). It will be a challenging series, but we like our chances. We went 1-0-2 vs. KC this regular season. I'm expecting a good battle.

How about that great team performance in Chicago! It was an awesome effort all around.

Congrats to Will Bruin on the two goals. In his first playoff start, he became the third Dynamo player to score two or more goals in one playoff game. Brian Ching (2007 vs. FCD) and Paul Dalglish (2006 vs. COL) have done it. With the two goals, he also has 14 on the year, tying Ching for the most in a single season. Brian has done it twice ('06 and '08).

Brad Davis posted his sixth playoff assist, which is a club record. He also made his 16th playoff start, tying Ching for a club record.

Bobby Boswell, who was rock-solid, played in his 185th game for the club, passing Brian Mullan for 4th all-time.

This was our 3rd road win in team playoff history. Prior to last year, we had not won a playoff game on the road.

The team will be off tomorrow to recover and then back at training Friday and Saturday in preparation.

In the office, we will be working hard to promote, sell, and organize the match over the next 80 hours or so. Please help us make it a great day. Come on out, bring your friends, spread the word.

I hope to see you Sunday.
