Kinnear expresses condolences to family of Miguel Calero

While much of the talk at the Houston Dynamo's season-ending press conference was about MLS Cup and the future of the Dynamo, head coach Dominic Kinnear took time to express his condolences for the loss of a member of the soccer community. It was announced today that former Pachuca goalkeeper Miguel Calero had died last night after suffering an apparent cerebral thrombosis at his home in Pachuca, Mexico.

"There was some news out about Miguel Calero from Pachuca and I just want to say that when I read that story it was very sad," Kinnear told the media. "I think the Houston Dynamo should definitely stand up and say our wishes are with him and his family. He was a key figure for Pachuca during those games. When I read that story this morning it was very sad because I have great memories of playing against him and I'm definitely thinking about his family during this time."

The Dynamo and Pachuca played seven times in international competition between 2007 and 2010. Calero featured in all seven of those matches.
