Houston Dynamo claim several 2012 MLS Club and Executive Awards

The Houston Dynamo received two MLS Club and Executive awards at the Major League Soccer awards banquet Thursday night in Indianapolis, Ind.


Dynamo executive vice president Steven Powell was named the Corporate Partnerships Executive of the Year for his leadership in the club’s substantial sponsorship revenue growth in 2012.


The Dynamo operations department was named MLS Operations Staff of the Year. The team includes senior manager of operations Frank Arnold, operations coordinator Sam Longoria and BBVA Compass Stadium director of stadium operations Paul Byrne. The group was recognized for its excellence throughout the inaugural season at BBVA Compass Stadium.


In addition, Dynamo soccer programs assistant manager Justin Neese was named Youth Soccer Coach of Year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. In addition to coaching Dynamo youth programs players, Neese was recognized for facilitating numerous coaching deployments for the NSCAA.


The Dynamo earned MLS “President’s Club” status for full-season ticket sales, season ticket renewals and group ticket sales, keyed by the leadership of director of ticketing Marcus Madlock and senior director of ticket and premium services Travis Watkins.


In addition, several Dynamo ticket executives received ticket sales awards. Vanessa Meeks and Meghan Slaughter each achieved the “Gold” threshold for full-season ticket sales. AJ O'Rourke, Laith Yasiri and Josh Givens each received “Silver” marks for full-season ticket sales. Mike Mondello, Mike Williams, Matt Orlando and Aran Haven-O'Donnell each earned “Bronze” marks for full-season tickets. Additionally, Geoff Atkinson earned “All-Rookie” status. In group sales, Meeks and Williams received “Bronze” marks.


The Dynamo begin preseason on Monday and open the 2013 MLS season on Saturday, March 2 when they host D.C. United at BBVA Compass Stadium in a rematch of the 2012 Eastern Conference Championship.


Dynamo full-season ticket packages start at $400 and include 20 home games. The club is also offering a new Family Season Ticket Package for the 2013 season. For every full price adult season ticket purchased for $400, fans can purchase an additional season ticket for a child 10 years or younger for just $200, located in the Texas Children’s Health Plan Family Section (Section 201).
