Dynamo take on Vancouver Whitecaps in Carolina Challenge Cup

The Dynamo will play their second match in the Carolina Challenge Cup when they take on the Vancouver Whitecaps Wednesday afternoon a Blackbaud Stadium at 4 p.m. The two clubs have met once this preseason, with the Whitecaps defeating the Dynamo 2-1 on February 2 in Tucson.

Dynamo at Carolina Challenge Cup

Saturday's loss against the Chicago Fire was the first for the Dynamo in Carolina Challenge Cup history. The Dynamo had gone unbeaten in their previous six matches in the tournamnet and had won the 2006 and 2007 editions of the Challenge Cup. The winner of the round-robin tournament is awarded to the team with the most points after all game have been played.

Dynamo in 2013 preseason

The Dynamo enter Wednesday's match with a 5-3-1 preseason record. Houston is 1-0-3 against MLS competition, with the lone win coming against the Colorado Rapids in the Desert Friendlies in Tucson.


Roster Update

The Dynamo announced a few player moves this week as they move closer to finalizing their roster for the 2013 season opener. Je-Vaughn Watson, a Jamaican midfielder who made more than 40 appearances for the Dynamo over the past two seasons, was traded to FC Dallas for a 2015 second round draft pick. The Dynamo also completed a rumored move for Andrew Driver, a versatile midfielder who brings more than 150 Scottish Premier League appearances to Houston. It was also announced on Monday that Franck Songo'o, a trialist whose rights are owned by the Portland Timbers, was let go from camp. The Dynamo have three remaining trialists in camp: defenders Mike Chabala, Jimmy Nealis and Anthony Arena.
