Power Rankings Week: 6

After Houston’s 2-0 defeat to the Portland Timbers, the writers from MLSsoccer.com dropped the Dynamo from the top spot to No. 4 in this week’s power rankings. This is what they had to say about the current state of the Dynamo:

It's a bit of a precipitous tumble for a team that was at the top, but it's honestly been kind of a Jekyll and Hyde season from Houston thus far. They've looked pure quality at times, but have been weirdly fragile defensively in big moments. That burned them twice in Portland. But now they go to Fort BBVA with a chance to set an MLS record... good bet that the MLS Cup-caliber Dynamo show up this weekend.

Houston will return home this weekend to play the Chicago Fire, who picked up their first win of the season last weekend against the New York Red Bulls. MLSsoccer.com writers moved the Fire up one spot to No.18 and had this to say about Frank Klopas' squad:

Time to buy Maicon Santos for your Fantasy teams, folks. He has one month per season in which he's absolutely unstoppable, and if last weekend is any indication, April is it. With Arne Friedrich coming back soon as well, the Fire have a chance to make March's agony a distant memory.

Elsewhere around the internet, Sport Illustrated’s Avi Creditor ranked Houston No. 5. Meanwhile, Bleacher Report’s Joe Tansey and ESPN.com’s Jeff Carlisle had the Dynamo ranked No.6.

Houston will look to extend their current home unbeaten streak to a MLS record 35 games in all competitions (regular season, playoffs and CCL), this Sunday against the Chicago Fire at 4 p.m. (BUY TICKETS)
