Houston Dash goalkeeper Erin McLeod and defender Lauren Sesselmann have been called up to the Canada women’s national team for a friendly against the United States on Jan. 31 in Frisco, TX, it was announced today.
Canada head coach John Herdman selected 19 players for the international friendly, which will take place at FC Dallas’ Toyota Stadium (8 p.m. CT on FOX Sports 1).
McLeod, 30, has made 92 appearances in goal for Canada, compiling a 45-18-29 record. The St. Albert, Alberta, native was acquired by the Dash via a trade with the Chicago Red Stars. McLeod started 16 games for the Red Stars in the 2013 NWSL season, going 5-6-5 with four shutouts.
Lauren Sesselmann was taken by the Dash in the 2014 NWSL Expansion Draft from FC Kansas City. The 30-year-old has earned 38 caps for the Canadian national team and tallied four assists in those games. The Marshfield, Wis., native started 19 games for FCKC in 2013 and was named to the NWSL Second XI.
