The Pittsburgh Riverhounds secured another late-season win on Saturday with three Houston Dynamo players in the starting lineup. Forward Jason Johnson recorded an assist and goalkeeper Michael Lisch and defender Anthony Arena each played 90 minutes as the Riverhounds knocked off the FC Dallas Reserves, 3-1, at Highmark Stadium.
Johnson assisted on Rob Vincent’s opening goal in the 20th minute for his first assist of the year.
The Riverhounds 8-12-5 (29 points) have won seven of their last 10 games and are one point removed from a USL PRO playoff spot with three games remaining. Three teams – Arizona United SC, Charlotte Eagles and Wilmington Hammerheads FC – are currently tied for the eighth and final playoff spot with 30 points.
Pittsburgh faces a difficult road trip this weekend, with two road games on consecutive nights in different states. On Friday, the ‘Hounds visit the Charlotte Eagles in Charlotte, N.C. before visiting the Charleston Battery on Saturday night in Charleston, S.C.
With the right results, Pittsburgh could be in position to clinch a playoff berth at home in the regular season finale on Sept. 6 against Arizona United SC.
The Riverhounds are the USL PRO affiliate of the Houston Dynamo after the clubs formed an affiliate partnership for the 2014 season last November.
