Loan Update: Arena, Lisch help Riverhounds to 1-1 road trip, hope for playoffs

The Pittsburgh Riverhounds gained three points from a tough two-city road trip last weekend and remain in contention for the USL PRO playoffs with one game remaining.

On Friday, Houston Dynamo goalkeeper Michael Lisch and defender Anthony Arena each started as the ‘Hounds claimed a 1-0 win at Queens Sports Complex.

Lisch made four saves to keep his fourth clean sheet of the season while Miroslav Cabrillo scored the game-winner in the 76th minute.

The Riverhounds faced a tough test just 24 hours later with a second road game in as many nights against the Charleston Battery.

Arena started for the second straight game as Pittsburgh fell, 4-0.

The results leave the Riverhounds in contention for a place in the USL PRO playoffs, but in complicated circumstances.

Currently in ninth place on 32 points, Pittsburgh must win its final game of the season, Saturday at home against Arizona United, and hope for results among the other contenders to gain one of the eight playoff spots

A win would leave Pittsburgh with 35 points, and among the top eight if it finishes above one of the following rivals: Harrisburg City (34 points, two games remaining) or Wilmington (34 points; three games remaining). Lisch has since been recalled by the Dynamo after news of Tally Hall's injury leaves the team with two goalkeepers.

The Riverhounds are the USL PRO affiliate of the Houston Dynamo after the clubs formed an affiliate partnership for the 2014 season last November.
