The Mexico Olympic team won its second consecutive CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Championship on Tuesday night, and the only player to appear in both editions was Houston Dynamo forward Erick Torres.

Facing Honduras for the second time in the tournament—the teams squared off in the final match of group play—Mexico claimed the lead in the 42nd minute and never looked back. Rodolfo Pizzaro attempted a bicycle kick in the penalty area but didn’t make solid contact, and instead bounced high in front of the goal. Torres and Honduran defender Bryan Acosta both leaped for the ball, but it ended up glancing off Acosta into the goal.

Mexico extended the lead in their lead in the 69th minute with a swerving shot from Victor Guzman from 30 yards away to clinch the championship.

Torres finished the tournament with four goals scored and helped force two own goals. He was named to the tournament Best XI for his performances.

Honduras

Both Boniek García and Luis Garrido entered as second half substitutes in Honduras’ 1-1 draw against South Africa Tuesday night.

The teams traded goals early in the match, with South Africa scoring first in the eighth minute and Honduras responding in the 13th, but didn’t create anything further. Garrido came on as a halftime switch and picked up a yellow card in the 83rd minute, while García joined play in the 60th minute.

Jamaica

The Reggae Boyz traveled to Asia to face South Korea early on Tuesday morning, but came away with a 3-0 loss. Giles Barnes played the full 90 minutes, reportedly as a holding midfielder when injuries left the Jamaicans without a true central midfielder.
