If 70,858 seems like a large number to you, that's because it is. It's also the number of people who attended the Copa América semifinal on Tuesday night between the United States and Argentina at NRG Stadium, which set a new city record for the highest-attended soccer match in Houston.

The previous record of 70,728 was set in the same stadium back in 2010 for the MLS All-Star game between the MLS All-Stars and Manchester United. Back in the Dynamo's inaugural 2006 season, 70,550 fans packed then-Reliant Stadium for a doubleheader featuring the Dynamo vs. LA Galaxy and FC Barcelona vs. Club América.

Houston also hosted two U.S. vs. Mexico matches, drawing 70,103 fans in 2008 and 69,582 in 2003. If you go back even further, 33,351 people filled in the Astrodome in 1967 to watch Real Madrid vs. West Ham United for what was then the second-highest attended soccer match in the U.S.
