Who's up for an adventure with Dash GK Lydia Williams?

What motivates you?

What motivates me is to be the best footballer I can be. We are pretty lucky that we get to travel the world with some of our best friends and see new parts of the country, experience new cultures and you can’t find that with a traditional 9-5 office job. For me it is experiencing new things and enjoying that what I get to do is something I love so much.

What is the most exotic adventure you’ve experienced?

Probably my childhood is the most exotic thing – living in the desert, having two pet kangaroos and from there I worked at a zoo. So I got to see a lot of exotic animals which was cool and something I enjoyed, but in terms of football. We have been to Brazil, I wouldn’t have gone if it wasn’t for that, I’ve gone to Russia and I wouldn’t of gone if it wasn’t for football. I suppose that visiting those countries has been the most exotic adventure with football.

Who are your heroes?

My mom and dad are my heroes. They have been there since the start and have supported me all the way through. So yeah, definitely them and I talk to mom nearly every day. For my sporting heroes, Cathy Freeman who ran the 400 sprint meter in the Sydney 2000 Olympics and I got to meet her in Rio. That was pretty special. I was speechless which I don’t think has ever happened so that was cool.

What is your favorite soccer movie?

I recently watched a Pele documentary and that was pretty cool. I didn’t really didn’t know a lot about football growing up and my parents got me a VHS about Pele and I’ve been a fan ever since.

Who would play you in a biopic?

Sandra Bullock, we are both classically funny – just hilarious. Miss Congeniality is my favorite of course and The Heat.

What is your favorite book?

I read thriller books, so James Patterson. I also read devotions and other items from the bible that my mom sends me.

What is the first song you sing at karaoke?

It has to be something that gets everyone laughing or everyone dancing. So it is either a modern day hit, something from Justin Timberlake where I am trying to hit those high notes or it’s like *NSYNC where I try to replicate the dance moves. I don’t take myself too seriously if I was going to sing, if I was I would be on Australian Idol or American Idol.

If you could eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would that be?

It changes a lot. I love dessert, but I also love burgers – just burgers. We have this place in Australia called Grilled and it just has fantastic burgers.  Maybe pizza, because you can change up the toppings. No, I’ll say sushi.

If you could have one superpower what would that be?

Teleportation, I don’t like flying. I would just teleport anywhere I want to go visit. I’d like to go somewhere with a beach and cocktails. Maybe the Maldives or Bora Bora.

What is your drink of choice?

I do love a good Moscow Mule, that’s probably my go-to, or Amaretto sour. Oh, and coffee obviously.

Describe your perfect day.

My perfect day would include a good coffee and brunch, chilling at a park or something active. I’d like to have a random adventure, nothing planned, just something spontaneous. Then go out to dinner or drinks with friends. I could also go for a night in with friends. I would also need time with my dog.

If you were stuck on an island and you could have two teammates with you, who would you pick?

Ralph would be there for sure, that little fluff. Morgan and Rachel would be there too. It would be a really funny dynamic and we would probably laugh each other to death before we starve to death. They’re both fantastic and we should make that the next Survivor.

What are some of your goals for the next 5-10 years?

Well in 10 years I will be 38, so I definitely want to have a family and a house. I would probably settle down by then and add a career. In the next five years,  I will continue to study so hashing down on life after football. Also I want to keep fit and play as long as I can. Nothing too extravagant yet.
